Waveshare ESP32-S3 Touch LCD 5.0" specifications
The Waveshare ESP32-S3-Touch-LCD-5 is a 5-inch, 800×480 RGB display board aimed at control panels. The panel is driven by an ST7262 and topped with a 5-point GT911 capacitive touch screen, and an ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8 (16 MB flash, 8 MB PSRAM) runs the interface.
Like the 4.3B, it is built for wiring into real systems: CAN 2.0 (TJA1051) and RS485 (SP3485, automatic direction control) on 3.5 mm terminals with switchable terminators, two isolated digital inputs and two open-drain outputs for 5–36 V signals, and a 7–36 V DC input. A PCF85063 RTC with a CR927 coin cell, a microSD slot and a lithium battery charger complete the set.
Waveshare also makes a 1024×600 version called the 5B; this profile is for the 800×480 ESP32-S3-Touch-LCD-5.

Free GPIOs and connectors
These GPIOs are not used by the display, touch or on-board peripherals, so you can wire your own sensors, buttons or relays to them.
| Pin | Capabilities | Note |
|---|---|---|
| GPIO 6 | GPIO, PWM | Not used by the board per the wiki — probably the Sensor AD (PH2.0) header, not confirmed |
Good to know before you start
- Make sure you have the 800×480 model: the 5B (1024×600) needs a different resolution.
- The I2C terminal voltage defaults to 3.3 V and can be changed to 5 V.
- GPIO 6 is the only plain free GPIO; use I2C for sensors.
- Isolated I/O runs through the CH422G expander and optocouplers.
What it is good for
- •Industrial and building automation panels
- •Modbus RTU / CAN dashboards
- •Machine HMIs on 12/24 V supplies
- •Smart home control centres
