Elecrow CrowPanel ESP32 HMI 3.5" specifications
The CrowPanel ESP32 HMI 3.5-inch (model DIS05035H) is where Elecrow's SPI-based CrowPanels get a real step up in resolution: 320×480 pixels on an ILI9488 controller, with 262K colours and a 48.96 × 73.44 mm active area. Touch is resistive, and a stylus is included.
Like the smaller CrowPanels, it is built as a ready-to-use HMI: a lithium battery connector with charging circuit, an amplified speaker output, a microSD slot and HY2.0-4P ports for GPIO, I2C and UART0 are all on board.
One thing worth knowing before you start: Elecrow changed two touch and display lines in hardware version 2.2. The LCD Ultra Pro driver detects which version you have at start-up, so the same export works on older and newer boards.

Free GPIOs and connectors
These GPIOs are not used by the display, touch or on-board peripherals, so you can wire your own sensors, buttons or relays to them.
| Pin | Capabilities | Note |
|---|---|---|
| GPIO 0 | GPIO, BOOT | Boot button / IO0 |
| GPIO 1/TX | GPIO, UART_TX | UART0 TX — on the UART0 port (HY2.0-4P), shared with the USB-C serial port |
| GPIO 3/RX | GPIO, UART_RX | UART0 RX — on the UART0 port (HY2.0-4P), shared with the USB-C serial port |
| GPIO 4 | GPIO, ADC | Presumably free |
| GPIO 21 | GPIO, PWM, I2C_SCL | I2C port (HY2.0-4P) SCL — not used by the board |
| GPIO 22 | GPIO, PWM, I2C_SDA | I2C port (HY2.0-4P) SDA — not used by the board |
| GPIO 25 | GPIO, PWM, DAC | On the GPIO_D port (HY2.0-4P) — ADC2, not usable as analog input while WiFi is on |
| GPIO 32 | GPIO, PWM, ADC | On the GPIO_D port (HY2.0-4P) — ADC1_CH4 |
| GPIO 34 | GPIO, ADC | Input-only, presumably free |

- GPIO_D port — GPIO 25, 32
- I2C port — GPIO 22, 21 (SDA, SCL)
Not shared with the touch controller (it is on SPI) — free for sensors
- UART0 port — GPIO 1, 3 (TX, RX)
Shared with the USB-C serial port — the serial monitor and uploads use it too
Good to know before you start
- Hardware version 2.2 swapped the touch chip-select and the display MISO line (GPIO 12 and 33). If you write your own driver, check the version printed on the board; the LCD Ultra Pro export handles both automatically.
- Elecrow names both the ESP32-WROOM-32 and the ESP32-WROVER-B for this board. Plan your interface without PSRAM — 320×480 is a lot of pixels for internal SRAM, so use few full-screen images.
- Unlike the 2.4- and 2.8-inch models there is no UART1 port; external serial devices share UART0 with the USB-C port.
- GPIO 32 is the analog-capable pin on the GPIO_D port; GPIO 25 (ADC2) cannot read analog values while Wi-Fi is on.
What it is good for
- •Menu-driven control panels that need more room than 240×320
- •Data loggers that store readings on the microSD card
- •Portable instruments with battery power and audible alarms
- •Smart home panels with several buttons per screen

Frequently asked questions
What changed in CrowPanel 3.5-inch hardware version 2.2?
Elecrow swapped the display MISO and touch CS lines: older boards use MISO on GPIO 12 and touch CS on GPIO 33, v2.2 uses MISO on GPIO 33 and touch CS on GPIO 12. The LCD Ultra Pro driver detects the version when it starts.
Which display controller does the 3.5-inch CrowPanel use?
An ILI9488 driving a 320×480 TFT with 262K colours over SPI.
Does the CrowPanel 3.5-inch support a battery?
Yes, there is a PH2.0-2P lithium battery connector with an on-board charging circuit.
Is there a free I2C port?
Yes. The HY2.0-4P I2C port (SDA GPIO 22, SCL GPIO 21) is not used by the board because touch runs over SPI.
