Elecrow CrowPanel ESP32-S3 HMI 4.3" specifications

The CrowPanel ESP32-S3 HMI 4.3-inch (Elecrow model DIS06043H) is the entry point to Elecrow's RGB-parallel CrowPanels. Instead of an SPI display it uses a 16-bit RGB interface to an NV3047-driven 480×272 TFT, which gives smooth full-screen redraws, and it moves up to the ESP32-S3 — an ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N4R2 with 4 MB of flash and 2 MB of QSPI PSRAM.

Touch is resistive (XPT2046), which keeps the price low and works with a stylus or gloves. Around the display Elecrow adds a lithium battery connector with charging circuit, an amplified speaker output, a microSD slot and HY2.0-4P ports for GPIO and UART1, plus USB-C for power, programming and serial output.

The wide 480×272 format suits dashboards with a row of tiles or a chart next to a few buttons.

These GPIOs are not used by the display, touch or on-board peripherals, so you can wire your own sensors, buttons or relays to them.

The board has no separate I2C port — use these two pins for an I2C sensor

  • UART1 port — GPIO 17, 18 (TX, RX)

Good to know before you start

  • The module has 2 MB of QSPI PSRAM, not octal — select QSPI PSRAM in the Arduino IDE. The LCD Ultra Pro export's README lists the exact settings.
  • There is no dedicated I2C port. Elecrow suggests using the two GPIO_D pins (GPIO 37 and 38) for I2C or a software UART.
  • UART0 is only available through the USB-C port, not on a header; use the UART1 port (GPIO 17/18) for external serial devices.
  • Elecrow lists the colour depth as 16M, but the RGB interface is wired for 16-bit colour (RGB565), so plan with 65K colours.

What it is good for

  • •Wide dashboards with tiles, gauges or a trend chart
  • •Machine and process control panels used with gloves
  • •Battery-backed status displays
  • •First steps with ESP32-S3 RGB displays at a low cost

Frequently asked questions

How much PSRAM does the CrowPanel ESP32-S3 4.3-inch have?

2 MB of QSPI PSRAM on the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N4R2 module, together with 4 MB of flash.

Is the 4.3-inch CrowPanel touchscreen capacitive?

No, it is resistive, read by an XPT2046 controller. The larger 5-inch and 7-inch CrowPanels use a capacitive GT911 instead.

How do I connect an I2C sensor without an I2C port?

Use the GPIO_D port: its two pins, GPIO 37 and 38, can be configured as I2C SDA and SCL.

What resolution is the CrowPanel 4.3-inch?

480×272 pixels, driven over a 16-bit RGB parallel interface.
