Elecrow CrowPanel ESP32-S3 HMI 5.0" specifications
The CrowPanel ESP32-S3 HMI 5.0-inch (Elecrow model DIS07050H) is the sweet spot of the CrowPanel range: an 800×480 RGB display large enough for a real dashboard, capacitive GT911 touch, and an ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N4R8 with 8 MB of octal PSRAM to hold full-screen frame buffers.
Elecrow designed it as a finished HMI module. It takes 5 V / 2 A through USB-C, has a lithium battery connector with charging circuit, an I2S speaker amplifier, a microSD slot, and HY2.0-4P ports for UART0, I2C and one GPIO. Hardware version 2.0 added automatic download mode and version 3.0 added touch timing control through a small I/O expander.
The catch is that the RGB display uses almost every pin of the ESP32-S3: only GPIO 38 is left for your own hardware, plus the shared I2C bus and UART0. Plan sensors around I2C and you will rarely miss the pins.

Free GPIOs and connectors
These GPIOs are not used by the display, touch or on-board peripherals, so you can wire your own sensors, buttons or relays to them.
| Pin | Capabilities | Note |
|---|---|---|
| GPIO 38 | GPIO, PWM | On the GPIO_D port (HY2.0-4P) — the only free GPIO of the board |
| GPIO 43/TX | GPIO, UART_TX | UART0 TX — on the UART0 port (HY2.0-4P), shared with the USB-C serial port (CH340) |
| GPIO 44/RX | GPIO, UART_RX | UART0 RX — on the UART0 port (HY2.0-4P), shared with the USB-C serial port (CH340) |
- GPIO_D port — GPIO 38
- UART0 port — GPIO 43, 44 (TX, RX)
Shared with the USB-C serial port — the serial monitor and uploads use it too
- I2C port — GPIO 19, 20 (SDA, SCL)
Same I2C bus as the GT911 touch (0x14 / 0x5D) and, on V3.0 boards, the PCA9557 touch-reset expander (0x18)
Good to know before you start
- GPIO 0 is the display pixel clock (LCD_PCLK) and also the BOOT strapping pin — never connect anything else to it.
- Most boards ship with the N4R8 module (octal PSRAM). If yours has the N4R2 module, select QSPI PSRAM instead of OPI PSRAM in the Arduino IDE.
- The I2C port shares its bus with the GT911 touch controller (address 0x14/0x5D) and, on V3.0 boards, the touch-reset expander at 0x18 — pick sensors with different addresses.
- Only 4 MB of flash: large image collections fill it quickly, so compress images or load them from the microSD card.
What it is good for
- •Home Assistant and MQTT wall dashboards
- •Smart thermostat and climate control screens
- •Machine control panels with large touch buttons
- •Data visualisation with charts and gauges at 800×480

Frequently asked questions
Which GPIOs are free on the CrowPanel 5.0-inch?
Only GPIO 38 on the GPIO_D port is completely free. GPIO 43/44 (UART0) are shared with the USB-C serial port, and GPIO 19/20 form an I2C bus shared with the touch controller — fine for I2C sensors.
Is the CrowPanel 5-inch touchscreen capacitive?
Yes. Elecrow's example code drives a GT911 capacitive touch controller over I2C.
Which PSRAM setting do I need in the Arduino IDE?
OPI PSRAM for the usual ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N4R8 module. Boards with the N4R2 module need QSPI PSRAM instead.
What changed in CrowPanel hardware V3.0?
Elecrow added touch timing control through a PCA9557 I/O expander to prevent touch failures. The LCD Ultra Pro driver includes this step and works on V1.x to V3.0 boards.
Can the CrowPanel 5-inch run from a battery?
Yes. It has a PH2.0-2P connector for a 3.7–4.2 V lithium cell with an on-board charging circuit.
